Sending Healing Vibes

Sending Healing Vibes

Your friend just posted or messaged you that they are feeling unwell.  Maybe they went to the doctor and got some blood tests they didn’t like, or they have one of the nasty viruses going around.  Maybe it’s something even worse.  Your friend is suffering, and it hurts you to see it, but you feel helpless.  There’s nothing you can DO to help them, right?  You can be there for them, listen to them, make them snacks or tea.  And you send them good vibes.  Positive vibes.  Healing vibes.  I’m going to let you in on a little secret.  When you say “sending healing vibes,” you’re probably not.

You might be sending sympathy, and you most likely do want your friend to feel better.  What you might be sending is pity (and a bit of personal honesty, I hate being on the receiving end of pity; it feels gross).  I understand you want the person or creature you’re “sending healing vibes to” to feel better, or be healed, in whatever way they’re not enjoying optimal health.  But you’re not doing anything by saying that, except giving them a tiny granule of encouragement, and maybe a feeling of connection.  But for 99.99% of you, you’re not sending them healing shit.  You can, though.  Welcome to The Phoenix Lab: Level 5, where we talk about all the things that transcend physical reality and dive into the fascinating world of consciousness exploration.

Let’s start with a foundation that we’re all, everything in the whole universe that you perceive and don’t perceive, made of energy, in the most tangible and scientifically valid sense.  We can measure a lot of different kinds of energies in a lab, and have evidence that others exist.  We are explaining more things every day, but there is a ton of stuff we can’t explain, and even more stuff we can’t even perceive: oh the joys of human limitation!  We’ll do a deep dive some time on our limited human perception and ways we can explore what we can’t see when I’m not studying for an exam and writing a paper for a journal.

Back to today’s point, you already use the phrase, “sending healing vibes,” or some permutation thereof, so you accept that healing vibes can be sent, yeah?  Let’s next talk about how you can actually send them, and maybe even have an effect!  Everything is energy, and everything is connected.

First, check in with yourself.  Do you have their best interest at heart?  Is there some quiet part of you that is enjoying that they’re suffering?  (Well, at least I’M not the one who got sick! Or, They have so much else going for them, it’s about time they got knocked down a peg!  Or, I’ve been suffering with such and such for so long, now they know what it’s like!)  If you have any ill intentions, any envy or jealousy or satisfaction that you don’t want to admit out loud, just say “Sending healing vibes!” and move along, don’t bother with this exercise.  (And really, do some mindset work please. Your shadow isn’t helping anyone, especially yourself.)  Assuming you DO only have good intentions, create a bubble of maybe 5 or 10 minutes where you can be at peace and focus.  In this bubble, close your eyes and generate the feeling of when you are in peak condition.  When your body feels great, when your mind is happy, when your soul is calm and connected to the universe.  Got that glow?  Great!  Now think of your friend, at a time when you were most connected to them.  Imagine yourself giving them that feeling of health and vitality, wrap them in it like an iridescent hug, feel the joy and love radiating from both of you, imagine them as the picture of perfect health.

Take a second to imagine a friendly parting as you both go about your day.  And that’s it!  Repeat as often as it brings you joy.

Here’s the catch: the subject of your well-intentioned healing vibes?  Doesn’t have to accept them.  Everyone is on their own path, and everyone has free will.  Sometimes illness hides lessons that we need for the next phase of our life, and sometimes getting sick is a message that we’re pushing too hard, or going in the wrong direction.  Sometimes it’s bad luck, or an inevitable consequence, or isn’t the sick person’s fault in any way whatsoever.  There are as many reasons for illness and misfortune as there are individuals who have ever, and will ever exist, so it’s useless to place blame.

So what do you do if you’re the one who has fallen ill, and are being sent healing vibes?  The precise opposite of the above process, since you’re on the receiving end.  You get to decide if you want healing vibes, if you want them from that person, and even more to the root, if you want healing.  If you want to be healed, you first have to believe that you’re whole and healthy as you are, or at least that healing is possible for you, so create that bubble of 5 or 10 minutes and feel as though you are the most vibrant version of yourself.  Feel that glow!  No one’s intentions have a bigger impact on you than you, so freely indulge in this healthy fantasy as often as you like.  You don’t even have to be sick to do it, you can amplify how great you feel any time you want!
